Free Hytale Server Hosting: Costs, Limits and Trial Terms
Check what free Hytale hosting includes, what self-hosting costs and how to export your world. VYKIX offers paid Hytale hosting.
On this page
Before your group starts building on a free Hytale server, check how you’ll keep that world safe. You need enough resources to play, access to the files and a way to recover from a failed start.
VYKIX does not offer a free Hytale trial or permanent free Hytale hosting. Our Hytale plan is paid hosting. For a free tier elsewhere, read that provider’s current limits and data-retention terms before uploading your world.
Compare the three routes
| Route | Cost to check | Operational question |
|---|---|---|
| Provider free tier | Limits, renewal terms and paid upgrades | Will the server be available when your group plays? |
| Your own hardware | Electricity, connectivity and administration | Who maintains it and controls inbound access? |
| VYKIX Hytale hosting | Paid order total and billing term | Does the managed allocation fit your world and access needs? |
Test the game and hardware you plan to use. A DayZ or Rust trial doesn’t include Hytale, and trial hardware can differ from the paid plan.
Questions for a free-tier provider
Ask the provider about the parts your group will depend on:
- What memory, storage and player limits apply, and what happens when you reach them?
- Does the server sleep while empty, wait in a startup queue or require you to renew it?
- Can you upload your mods and configuration?
- Can you export the world, configuration and mod data before moving out?
- What protection is included, and who helps with failed connections?
- Who updates the game, creates backups and restores them?
Free tiers differ. If a policy isn’t published, get an answer before relying on the feature.
Try a busy session and another start after the server has been empty. Note how long it takes and any errors. Keep checking over the period your group expects to use it, rather than judging availability from the first successful login.
Self-hosting a Hytale server
Start with the Hytale Server Manual for runtime requirements and installation. Meeting the minimum gets you to the next step: testing your world and players on the machine.
Hytale uses QUIC/UDP. If the machine sits behind your home router, check whether your ISP gives you a reachable public connection. Carrier-grade NAT can stop inbound connections even when you’ve added a port forward. Ask the ISP about reachability and protection before spending time on router settings.
Use matching router and firewall rules for the assigned game port. Restrict access to management services. You’ll also need to handle OS updates, backups and keeping the machine on whenever the group wants to play.
Authentication is part of the setup
Our VYKIX setup walkthrough shows an installer that asks you to authorize the download, then log in to the server. Your installation may differ: the publisher’s bootstrap method can pass credentials through, and a provider may have completed authentication before handing over the service.
Read /auth status on the running server. If it needs login, use /auth login device with the Hytale account that owns your licence. Approve the request before its displayed expiry. Don’t include its codes or tokens in public screenshots.
Enable credential persistence if you want the login to survive a restart. If saved credentials fail later, read the error for revocation or an authentication-service failure before repeating setup. The publisher authentication guide explains the supported methods.
What the paid VYKIX plan includes
Our paid Hytale plan runs on an overclocked i9-14900K host and includes game-file access, a console, VxShield and three backup slots on the same server. Pick your setup for the world, mods and players you’ll run, within the plan’s fair-use memory and storage limits.
Use the panel file manager to reach mods and universe. Upload packages that support your game version, follow the mod author’s instructions and test each change before adding the next.
Download a separate world backup and try restoring it before an update. Keep that external copy alongside the three local backup slots.
Choose a Hytale plan and billing term, then review the checkout total with taxes and fees. If you’re moving from another host, ask about best-effort migration and seven extra days on an eligible paid plan. We’ll agree which files, databases and integrations need moving first.
Choose with an exit plan
Work through the five Hytale hosting checks: join, use a required mod, restart and recover a world export. Note any player load or availability requirement you still need to test.
Compare current Hytale plans, or use the setup guide for your chosen hosting model. Keep a downloaded copy of the world before the group begins its next build.
