1. CPU and the Workload It Has to Run

Ask for the CPU model before comparing clock speeds. DayZ depends on per-core performance as well as parallel work, and GHz figures mean different things across processor architectures. Other workloads on the host, sustained load and mod scripts can affect your result.

2. The Slot-Fee Model

3. DDoS Protection With Specifics

Ask how the host protects gameplay and server-browser queries, then test both. The capacity figure describes the size of the filtering network. It doesn’t tell you the latency your players will get or guarantee protection against every attack.

4. File and Configuration Access

Try the edits you’ll need: serverDZ.cfg, mission and economy files, mod settings and startup parameters. Export a copy too, so you know you can take your files with you. Confirm how transfers work, including SFTP, before paying.

5. Mod Freedom Without Fine Print

Give the host your mod list. Check how it handles Workshop installs, dependencies, loading scope and load order against the authors’ instructions. Install and test the combination you intend to run.

6. Backups With a Number Attached

Ask which files the backup includes, where it is stored and how to restore it. Match its slot count or storage allowance to your world’s size, and find out what happens to backups when the service ends.
