SSH and RDP Network Firewall

SSH and RDP need rules in both VxShield and the server’s operating-system firewall. Follow the VxShield Firewall Guide for the dashboard steps.

VxShield begins with ports closed. Add a rule for the port your remote administration service uses, then check that the operating-system firewall also allows it.

Use the Generic TCP filter when you add SSH and RDP ports in VxShield. Both remote administration services use TCP.

Service Default port Protocol Filter
SSH 22 TCP Generic TCP
RDP 3389 TCP Generic TCP
